American Scientific Resources Announces Outcome of Annual Meeting of Shareholders

WESTON, Fla.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--American Scientific Resources, Inc. (Pink Sheets: ASFX), today announced the outcome of their annual meeting of shareholders, which was held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 5pm EST at the offices of the Southridge Investment Group.

Shareholders voted for the re-election of Christopher F. Tirotta, MD, MBA, Donald C. Bennett and Thomas W. Materna, MD, MBA as members of the Board of Directors and affirmed Jewett, Schwartz, Wolfe & Associates as the independent auditor.

Dr. Tirotta, CEO and Chairman of the Board, is the Director of Cardiac Anesthesia of the Congenital Heart Institute of Miami Children's Hospital and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, and also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He graduated Cum Laude with a degree in biochemistry from Cornell University in 1982, and received his M.D. from New York University School of Medicine in 1986. Dr. Tirotta went on to receive an MBA from Columbia University in 1999. Also a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology and of the National Board of Medical Examiners, Dr. Tirotta founded Kidz-Med, Inc. in 1993 with the intentions of selling educational books and videos for children on various health-related matters.

Thomas W. Materna, MD, board member, is an ophthalmologist in the state of New Jersey. He earned a bachelor's degree from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts in 1966 and his medical degree in 1971 from the State University of New York's Downstate Medical Center, in Brooklyn. Dr. Materna saw active duty as a general medical officer in the United States Navy. He received an MBA from Rutgers University in 1991. He is a member of several professional societies, including The Society of Medical Consultants for the Armed Forces, and has also served on the Board of Directors at Dezomark, a medical company in Lviv, Ukraine.

Donald C. Bennett, board member, founded Bennett Bolt Works, Inc. in 1972 and currently serves as its President and Chief Operating Officer. He attended Cooper Union School of Engineering, and served as artillery and guided missile officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. Bennett is a member of many professional associations, including the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the American Road and Transportation Builder's Association, and a task force of the Association of General Contractors Joint Committee on New Highway Materials.
