AuraGen Added to the EPA Lists of Idle-Reduction Systems Eligible for Tax Break
EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Aura Systems, Inc. (OTCBB: AUSI) announced today that the Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") added the AuraGen to the approved list of idle reduction systems that qualify for exemption from the 12 percent federal excise tax.
The EPA announcement is posted at [ http://www.epa.gov/smartway/transport/what-smartway/idling-reduction-fet.htm ].
Last year Congress granted an exemption from the 12 percent federal excise tax for idle-reduction systems such as auxiliary power units, and now the Environmental Protection Agency has come up with a list of approved systems. The EPA organized the approved systems by technology type and the AuraGen is listed under "Battery Air-Conditioning Systems."
Mr. Melvin Gagerman, Aura's CEO, said, "We are pleased to be part of the environmental solution to provide a cleaner, healthier and safer world. This new EPA rule for federal excise tax exemption provides our customers with a cost savings of $600-$1,000 per system (depending on the features)." Mr. Gagerman added, "The AuraGen ICS system provides for seamless transition of electric power generated from a vehicle engine running to an engine-off mode and back again to engine-on mode. When the engine is shut-off the uninterrupted power is available through auxiliary batteries and as soon as the engine is turned on again the uninterrupted power is generated from the vehicle's engine and simultaneously the auxiliary batteries are charged. In addition the AuraGen system is a load following machine that generates only the needed power for a given load at any moment in time."
Aura Systems is also the provider of the Oasis all-electric transport refrigeration system for midsize refrigeration trucks that require up to 20,000 BTU/hr.
