January 3, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 1737 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2793 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1096 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CLEAN POWER CONCEPTS INC (OTCBB:CPOW), DIREXION DAILY FINL BEAR 3X (NYSE:FAZ), ELI LILLY & CO (NYSE:LLY), CORNING INC (NYSE:GLW), DRYSHIPS INC (NASDAQ:DRYS), MEDINAH MINERALS INC (OTC:MDMN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CPOW $-0.131 -39.97% 26,859,163 37.37% 44,083,904 61.34% -17,224,741 -1,319,904
     FAZ $-0.550 -5.82% 12,616,805 46.20% 14,892,373 54.53% -2,275,568 -41,374
     LLY $-0.040 -0.11% 2,394,507 31.96% 4,761,780 63.56% -2,367,273 -591,818
     GLW $-0.150 -0.78% 4,885,924 35.48% 7,763,549 56.38% -2,877,625 -191,842
     DRYS $-0.290 -5.28% 14,474,973 42.33% 19,612,109 57.36% -5,137,136 -177,143
     MDMN $-0.012 -8.45% 7,164,504 42.46% 9,384,460 55.62% -2,219,956 -1,849,963

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MDMN down $-0.01200 with a Friction Factor of -1,849,963 and a Net Volume of -2,219,956. That means that it takes 1,849,963 more shares of selling than buying to drop MDMN by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
