January 6, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2739 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2076 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2943 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. USA TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:USAT), ADVANCED PHOTONIX INC-CL A (AMEX:API), THERMOGENESIS CORP (NASDAQ:KOOL), RPC INC (NYSE:RES), CROWN CRAFTS INC (NASDAQ:CRWS), PHAZAR CORP (NASDAQ:ANTP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     USAT $-0.120 -8.89% 233,779 39.14% 363,583 60.86% -129,804 -10,817
     API $-0.170 -10.00% 166,140 30.43% 353,682 64.79% -187,542 -11,032
     KOOL $-0.350 -9.43% 198,885 35.44% 362,264 64.56% -163,379 -4,668
     RES $-1.650 -8.96% 1,126,855 41.67% 1,379,926 51.03% -253,071 -1,534
     CRWS $-0.570 -11.40% 36,355 31.13% 80,091 68.57% -43,736 -767
     ANTP $-0.700 -12.96% 44,036 42.44% 58,734 56.60% -14,698 -210

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ANTP with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.70000 and a Friction Factor of -210 shares. That means that it only took 210 more shares of selling than buying to move ANTP lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
