January 6, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2739 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2076 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2943 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. RR DONNELLEY & SONS CO (NASDAQ:RRD), MICRON TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:MU), FIRSTENERGY CORP (NYSE:FE), PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), POWERSHARES QQQ NASDAQ 100 (NASDAQ:QQQQ), COMPASS GROUP PLC-ADR (OTC:CMPGY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     RRD $0.070 0.40% 608,827 15.18% 3,399,753 84.77% -2,790,926 Abnormal
     MU $0.080 0.94% 10,842,033 42.92% 14,205,843 56.23% -3,363,810 Abnormal
     FE $0.170 0.45% 1,433,150 20.58% 5,280,515 75.82% -3,847,365 Abnormal
     PFE $0.060 0.34% 18,371,327 15.72% 94,742,536 81.09% -76,371,209 Abnormal
     QQQQ $0.090 0.16% 21,558,742 46.79% 24,503,613 53.18% -2,944,871 Abnormal
     CMPGY $0.040 0.45% 55,768 1.62% 3,133,536 90.89% -3,077,768 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CMPGY with 3,077,768 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
