January 6, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2739 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2076 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2943 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. CMS ENERGY CORP (NYSE:CMS), SOUTHERN CO (NYSE:SO), NISOURCE INC (NYSE:NI), BANK OF AMERICA CORP (NYSE:BAC), SPDR S&P 500 ETF TRUST (NYSE:SPY), ISHARES MSCI BRAZIL (NYSE:EWZ). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .

Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CMS $-0.040 -0.21% 4,707,244 74.09% 1,372,021 21.60% 3,335,223 Abnormal
     SO $-0.250 -0.66% 9,155,939 76.56% 2,391,392 20.00% 6,764,547 Abnormal
     NI $-0.010 -0.06% 4,734,366 82.93% 836,793 14.66% 3,897,573 Abnormal
     BAC $-0.080 -0.55% 110,374,442 45.90% 105,531,281 43.89% 4,843,161 Abnormal
     SPY $-0.340 -0.27% 62,129,426 50.77% 56,924,780 46.51% 5,204,646 Abnormal
     EWZ $-0.700 -0.90% 11,191,391 80.44% 5,282,543 37.97% 5,908,848 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EWZ with 5,908,848 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.70000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
