January 5, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2504 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3314 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2045 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. PACIFIC OFFICE PROPERTIES TR (AMEX:PCE), CHINA GENGSHENG MINERALS INC (AMEX:CHGS), TASTY BAKING CO (NASDAQ:TSTY), TRIDENT MICROSYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:TRID), WSI INDUSTRIES INC (NASDAQ:WSCI), ADEONA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (AMEX:AEN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     PCE $-0.650 -20.63% 83,370 30.98% 125,931 46.80% -42,561 -655
     CHGS $-0.650 -14.87% 2,918,605 44.99% 3,449,377 53.18% -530,772 -8,166
     TSTY $-2.420 -37.64% 370,175 38.88% 557,454 58.55% -187,279 -774
     TRID $-0.280 -14.64% 1,718,199 41.26% 2,445,075 58.72% -726,876 -25,960
     WSCI $-1.220 -18.63% 107,464 44.10% 132,799 54.50% -25,335 -208
     AEN $-0.350 -18.92% 528,802 38.53% 778,378 56.71% -249,576 -7,131

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AEN with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.35000 and a Friction Factor of -7,131 shares. That means that it only took 7,131 more shares of selling than buying to move AEN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
