January 6, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2739 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2076 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2943 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Thursday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ADVANCED CELL TECHNOLOGY INC (OTCBB:ACTC), KING PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NYSE:KG), MYLAN INC (NASDAQ:MYL), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), ISHARES MSCI JAPAN INDEX FD (NYSE:EWJ), CISCO SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:CSCO). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ACTC $0.011 5.71% 14,675,690 54.97% 10,598,301 39.70% 4,077,389 3,775,360 KG $0.050 0.36% 7,671,507 94.23% 301,442 3.70% 7,370,065 1,474,013 MYL $0.780 3.58% 7,746,681 64.36% 4,210,809 34.98% 3,535,872 45,332 S $0.030 0.65% 28,980,237 50.72% 24,214,297 42.38% 4,765,940 1,588,647 EWJ $0.010 0.09% 29,344,356 64.64% 16,267,004 35.83% 13,077,352 13,077,352 CSCO $0.180 0.87% 35,514,459 53.97% 29,702,120 45.13% 5,812,339 322,908
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CSCO with a Net Buy Volume of 5,812,339 shares and a Friction Factor of 322,908 shares. That means that it takes 322,908 more shares of buying than selling to move CSCO higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Thursday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
