Market Maker Surveillance Report. CPOW, XRT, INTC, SIRI, TLT, EWZ, Highest Net Sell Volume and Negative Price Friction For Wed
January 5, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2504 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3314 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2045 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Wednesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CLEAN POWER CONCEPTS INC (OTCBB:CPOW), SPDR S&P RETAIL ETF (NYSE:XRT), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI), ISHARES BARCLAYS 20+ YEAR TR (NYSE:TLT), ISHARES MSCI BRAZIL (NYSE:EWZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CPOW $-0.026 -13.40% 4,626,844 31.53% 9,762,703 66.53% -5,135,859 -1,975,330 XRT $-0.060 -0.12% 4,410,494 25.05% 12,889,224 73.21% -8,478,730 -1,413,122 INTC $-0.260 -1.23% 28,164,955 45.86% 34,194,037 55.67% -6,029,082 -231,888 SIRI $-0.020 -1.20% 19,821,988 41.31% 27,928,193 58.20% -8,106,205 -4,053,103 TLT $-2.000 -2.14% 7,260,259 41.33% 11,185,453 63.68% -3,925,194 -19,626 EWZ $-0.740 -0.94% 7,120,195 30.77% 23,121,229 99.93% -16,001,034 -216,230
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows EWZ down $-0.74000 with a Friction Factor of -216,230 and a Net Volume of -16,001,034. That means that it takes 216,230 more shares of selling than buying to drop EWZ by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
