The Kinki Osaka Bank, Ltd. Consolidates on the Resona Group?s Data Warehouse from Teradata

TOKYO--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Teradata Corporation ] (NYSE: TDC), the world's largest company solely focused on [ data warehousing ] and [ enterprise analytics ], today announced that The Kinki Osaka Bank, Ltd. has migrated to a [ data warehouse ] from Teradata. The data warehouse is shared with two other financial institutions, Resona Bank, Ltd. and Saitama Resona Bank, Ltd., all members of the Resona Group.

"This is the first time that three Japanese banks have shared the same [ data warehouse ]," said Yukihiko Yoshikawa, president of Teradata Japan. "This integration creates new affordability by substantially reducing development and operating costs, as compared with separate data warehouse implementations by each bank, while creating a consistent earnings management strategy. In addition, the Resona Group will create a competitive advantage for all three banks by improving the planning and execution of their marketing strategies."

Highly-Scalable Data Warehouse

The Asahi Bank, Ltd., one of the predecessors of the Resona Group, first deployed its [ data warehouse ] from Teradata in 1997. As the Resona Group banks grew, merged or reorganized, the data warehouse from Teradata scaled to meet the demands of the business, without performance degradation. The ability of the [ data warehouse ] to grow with the business protects the investment in the [ platform ], data modeling, application development, and employee skill development.

The institutions will share their asset liability management application and the group's marketing application called Marketing Customer Information File (MCIF). The Resona Group utilizes the MCIF application to analyze customer segments on the basis of their assets and to identify target customers for innovative campaigns through ATMs.

Resona Bank, Ltd. has operations in Tokyo, Osaka and other areas in Japan, while Saitama Resona Bank, Ltd. serves customers primarily in Saitama Prefecture and The Kinki Osaka Bank, Ltd. serves the Kinki region.
