The Search Engine Watch Awards honor outstanding search marketers and vendors as judged by a panel of industry experts, including representatives from Search Engine Watch's expert columnists, the Search Engine Strategies Advisory Board and other search marketing professionals. EVR was named the recipient yesterday at the Search Engine Strategies 2009 Conference and Expo in San Jose, California.

To be considered for participation, submissions had to focus on the following areas:

Geared toward generating laughter and optimism, while emphasizing the lighter side of potentially embarrassing moments, YourFatChance.com invited participants to enter their funniest bad luck story in 100 words or less. Fans created Facebook and Twitter pages about YourFatChance.com and news of the contest spread virally. From March 17-April 28, 2009, participants submitted their funny bad luck stories in hope of winning a free [ vacation rental ] from EVR. After reviewing thousands of stories, the EVR judges chose the 25 funniest entries and America voted for their favorite finalist during a six-week voting period. The final winners were announced in July: the Grand Prize winner received a one-week vacation rental plus $2,000USD in VISA® gift cards; and the First Prize winner received a one-week vacation rental. Additionally, 12 people became instant winners of a one-week vacation rental through EVR's daily online scratch-off game, and another 107 people won instant prizes.
