A recent survey by Way2News, as reported by ThePrint, reveals a significant shift in the investment preferences of South Indians. The survey, conducted among 10,000 respondents across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, indicates that gold has emerged as the top investment choice with 38% of respondents favoring it, followed by fixed deposits (FDs) at 32%. Notably, there has been a decline in the popularity of FDs, dropping from 42% in 2022 to 32% in 2023. Conversely, investments in stocks have gained momentum, increasing from 12% in 2022 to 18% in 2023. The survey also highlights a growing interest in mutual funds, with 12% of respondents choosing this option, up from 8% the previous year. This shift in investment patterns reflects changing economic conditions and investor sentiment in the region.
