January 25, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2742 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2224 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2780 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Tuesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CHIMERA INVESTMENT CORP (NYSE:CIM), BANK OF AMERICA CORP (NYSE:BAC), CITIGROUP INC (NYSE:C), BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CORP (NYSE:BSX), CHESAPEAKE ENERGY CORP (NYSE:CHK), FINANCIAL SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CIM $-0.070 -1.66% 4,713,733 29.75% 10,688,845 67.47% -5,975,112 -853,587
     BAC $-0.310 -2.23% 132,354,061 43.81% 140,931,640 46.65% -8,577,579 -276,696
     C $-0.040 -0.82% 191,190,268 45.52% 213,755,603 50.90% -22,565,335 -5,641,334
     BSX $-0.110 -1.54% 7,474,322 33.30% 10,855,104 48.36% -3,380,782 -307,344
     CHK $-0.720 -2.56% 4,618,708 34.43% 7,951,705 59.28% -3,332,997 -46,292
     XLF $-0.060 -0.39% 31,265,051 45.52% 36,616,184 53.31% -5,351,133 -891,856

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLF down $-0.06000 with a Friction Factor of -891,856 and a Net Volume of -5,351,133. That means that it takes 891,856 more shares of selling than buying to drop XLF by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
