Market Maker Surveillance Report. LSCG, SHZ, PMI, TESS, COOL, MTG, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday, Jan
January 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2198 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1279 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4399 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. LIGHTING SCIENCE GROUP CORP (OTC:LSCG), CHINA SHEN ZHOU MINING & RES (AMEX:SHZ), PMI GROUP INC/THE (NYSE:PMI), TESSCO TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:TESS), MAJESCO ENTERTAINMENT CO (NASDAQ:COOL), MGIC INVESTMENT CORP (NYSE:MTG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction LSCG $-1.300 -24.76% 51,025 10.10% 101,211 20.03% -50,186 -386 SHZ $-1.410 -17.39% 2,981,074 45.72% 3,175,933 48.71% -194,859 -1,382 PMI $-0.730 -18.32% 6,887,768 41.28% 8,434,552 50.55% -1,546,784 -21,189 TESS $-2.860 -17.70% 62,249 39.40% 95,153 60.22% -32,904 -115 COOL $-0.280 -20.00% 876,567 43.97% 1,060,816 53.21% -184,249 -6,580 MTG $-2.390 -20.52% 9,536,131 43.21% 10,397,381 47.12% -861,250 -3,604
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MTG with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-2.39000 and a Friction Factor of -3,604 shares. That means that it only took 3,604 more shares of selling than buying to move MTG lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
