Market Maker Surveillance Report. MSFT, DF, INTC, JPM, EWZ, EWW, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Wednesday, January 19th 2
January 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2198 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1279 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4399 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT), DEAN FOODS CO (NYSE:DF), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), JPMORGAN CHASE & CO (NYSE:JPM), ISHARES MSCI BRAZIL (NYSE:EWZ), ISHARES MSCI MEXICO INVESTAB (NYSE:EWW). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MSFT $-0.180 -0.63% 25,375,389 51.46% 23,320,123 47.29% 2,055,266 Abnormal DF $-0.310 -3.09% 9,340,498 67.19% 3,921,469 28.21% 5,419,029 Abnormal INTC $-0.070 -0.34% 22,395,034 52.43% 20,135,936 47.14% 2,259,098 Abnormal JPM $-0.570 -1.27% 20,695,951 46.98% 18,364,140 41.69% 2,331,811 Abnormal EWZ $-0.940 -1.21% 8,554,669 58.95% 6,411,403 44.18% 2,143,266 Abnormal EWW $-0.790 -1.25% 3,306,651 71.63% 1,309,748 28.37% 1,996,903 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows EWW with 1,996,903 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.79000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
