Market Maker Surveillance Report. ATHX, EFOI, MSHL, CIMT, ICGN, ONSM, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday,
January 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2198 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1279 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4399 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ATHERSYS INC (NASDAQ:ATHX), ENERGY FOCUS INC (NASDAQ:EFOI), MARSHALL EDWARDS INC (NASDAQ:MSHL), CIMATRON LTD (NASDAQ:CIMT), ICAGEN INC (NASDAQ:ICGN), ONSTREAM MEDIA CORP (NASDAQ:ONSM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ATHX $0.320 11.90% 315,410 61.41% 198,186 38.59% 117,224 3,663 EFOI $0.160 14.94% 279,105 56.88% 211,572 43.12% 67,533 4,221 MSHL $0.150 12.50% 47,151 64.67% 25,059 34.37% 22,092 1,473 CIMT $0.780 21.49% 245,810 50.77% 237,768 49.11% 8,042 103 ICGN $0.750 33.04% 3,030,029 51.76% 2,816,226 48.11% 213,803 2,851 ONSM $0.160 14.81% 199,558 57.62% 146,770 42.38% 52,788 3,299
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ONSM with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.16000 and a Friction Factor of 3,299 shares. That means that it only took 3,299 more shares of buying than selling to move ONSM higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
