Infogroup and UniversalBusinessListing.org Deliver Expanded Business Listing Data to Internet and Mobile Search Engines

More than 85 new data fields include social network links and industry-specific information

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- [ Infogroup ] and[ UniversalBusinessListing.org ] (UBL) announced today the implementation of expanded business listings to power enhanced search across multiple search platforms. The expanded data will be delivered by UBL to Infogroup via Infogroup's innovative Express Update technology. Express Update provides a single-step process for both Infogroup data partners and local businesses to update multiple business listings at a single time.

The expanded data includes social network links for businesses including Facebook and Twitter, as well as additional industry-specific information that will increase consumers' online discovery methods.

UBL has already begun delivering data in the expanded format with over 85 new data fields. The enhanced information will be provided for inclusion in Infogroup's industry-leading business database using Infogroup's innovative Express Update service. The enhanced data will be used to power Internet and mobile search engines as well as navigation and telematic systems.  Through its existing relationships, Infogroup data is used to power the top five search engines and 90% of in-car navigation systems in North America.

"The social network page of a business has become a vital element, in some cases supplanting the value of a company's website itself," said Jim DeRouchey, president of Infogroup Licensing. "The enhanced details we're collecting such as gas station fuel types, restaurant ratings and hotel pet policies are all key search factors, particularly given the increased use of GPS and mobile phones."

"The increased number of new data fields represents a new way for companies to be found and compared in an increasingly competitive environment," said Doyal Bryant, CEO, UniversalBusinessListing.org. "With the recent growth of location-based services it is more important than ever to have enhanced data content in your listing. It is also clear that local search engines, IYP directories, mobile devices, GPS and even social media sites are looking for more enhanced content, and value this added data which users can greatly benefit from."

Industry-specific information will be available for categories such as airports, casinos, shopping centers, hotels, restaurants, bars, amusement parks, golf courses, car dealerships and convenience stores. A complete list of data categories is available at [ www.ubl.org ].
