Market Maker Surveillance Report. VLYF, NPD, IRE, PSTI, BGP, MTE, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Novembe
November 26, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2463 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1767 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3015 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. VALLEY FORGE COMPOSITE TECHN (OTCBB:VLYF), CHINA NEPSTAR CHAIN DRUG-ADR (NYSE:NPD), BANK OF IRELAND-SPONS ADR (NYSE:IRE), PLURISTEM THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:PSTI), BORDERS GROUP INC (NYSE:BGP), MAHANAGAR TELEPHONE-ADR (NYSE:MTE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction VLYF $-0.110 -6.88% 30,993 27.56% 81,462 72.44% -50,469 -4,588 NPD $-0.330 -8.51% 185,556 46.73% 200,347 50.46% -14,791 -448 IRE $-0.140 -8.86% 11,310,950 43.93% 13,115,804 50.93% -1,804,854 -128,918 PSTI $-0.100 -7.46% 53,528 21.12% 199,884 78.88% -146,356 -14,636 BGP $-0.080 -7.02% 296,378 40.16% 357,397 48.43% -61,019 -7,627 MTE $-0.220 -8.66% 69,753 28.79% 116,059 47.90% -46,306 -2,105
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MTE with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.22000 and a Friction Factor of -2,105 shares. That means that it only took 2,105 more shares of selling than buying to move MTE lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
