November 26, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2463 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1767 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3015 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. IPATH S&P 500 VIX S/T FU ETN (NYSE:VXX), CPI INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:CPII), DEL MONTE FOODS CO (NYSE:DLM), MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL (NYSE:MGM), MOTOROLA INC (NYSE:MOT), DIREXION DLY SM CAP BEAR 3X (NYSE:TZA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     VXX $2.350 5.44% 3,108,338 37.60% 4,852,915 58.71% -1,744,577 Abnormal
     CPII $4.780 33.06% 398,089 30.01% 928,348 69.99% -530,259 Abnormal
     DLM $0.830 4.61% 31,400,595 38.34% 47,710,896 58.25% -16,310,301 Abnormal
     MGM $0.020 0.13% 3,551,984 43.08% 4,074,566 49.41% -522,582 Abnormal
     MOT $0.010 0.14% 2,751,399 37.14% 3,919,963 52.91% -1,168,564 Abnormal
     TZA $0.340 1.77% 3,890,625 46.93% 4,509,254 54.39% -618,629 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TZA with 618,629 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.34000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
