November 23, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2533 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1372 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4138 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ASTROTECH CORP (NASDAQ:ASTC), URANIUM RESOURCES INC (NASDAQ:URRE), URANERZ ENERGY CORP (AMEX:URZ), DYCOM INDUSTRIES INC (NYSE:DY), BROWN SHOE COMPANY INC (NYSE:BWS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ASTC $0.470 46.53% 2,777,503 53.03% 2,458,142 46.93% 319,361 6,795
     URRE $0.330 13.15% 4,351,058 58.97% 3,021,248 40.95% 1,329,810 40,297
     URZ $0.500 15.67% 1,597,501 52.81% 1,261,085 41.69% 336,416 6,728
     DY $1.320 11.84% 602,569 46.93% 573,407 44.66% 29,162 221
     BWS $1.820 14.93% 1,668,070 51.06% 1,325,055 40.56% 343,015 1,885

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BWS with a dollar gain Tuesday of $1.82000 and a Friction Factor of 1,885 shares. That means that it only took 1,885 more shares of buying than selling to move BWS higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
