April 13, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2568 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2508 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2763 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. SPDR S&P 500 ETF TRUST (NYSE:SPY), PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CORP (NYSE:BSX), XL GROUP PLC (NYSE:XL), GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), FED NATL NTG PFD O (OTC:FNMFN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SPY $-0.110 -0.08% 77,017,754 50.90% 73,903,733 48.84% 3,114,021 Abnormal PFE $-0.040 -0.20% 12,917,317 44.21% 11,767,641 40.27% 1,149,676 Abnormal BSX $-0.200 -2.82% 18,040,859 48.86% 14,641,427 39.65% 3,399,432 Abnormal XL $-0.110 -0.44% 3,410,775 67.67% 1,413,954 28.05% 1,996,821 Abnormal GE $-0.070 -0.35% 17,227,351 45.17% 15,845,949 41.55% 1,381,402 Abnormal FNMFN $-0.100 -3.23% 15,767,782 99.98% 7,887,091 50.01% 7,880,691 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SPY with 3,114,021 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.11000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
