April 14, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2561 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2709 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2434 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. NOKIA CORP-SPON ADR (NYSE:NOK), FIRST NIAGARA FINANCIAL GRP (NASDAQ:FNFG), LSI CORP (NYSE:LSI), GENCORP INC (NYSE:GY), INDUSTRIAL SELECT SECT SPDR (NYSE:XLI), PETROHAWK ENERGY CORP (NYSE:HK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     NOK $-0.110 -1.26% 9,101,812 55.47% 6,055,390 36.91% 3,046,422 Abnormal
     FNFG $-0.060 -0.43% 9,899,260 81.19% 2,291,632 18.79% 7,607,628 Abnormal
     LSI $-0.060 -0.93% 3,395,854 51.23% 2,390,920 36.07% 1,004,934 Abnormal
     GY $-0.040 -0.60% 1,642,522 92.38% 410,045 23.06% 1,232,477 Abnormal
     XLI $-0.020 -0.05% 7,628,826 54.11% 6,471,025 45.89% 1,157,801 Abnormal
     HK $-0.120 -0.50% 5,636,347 46.75% 4,607,567 38.22% 1,028,780 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NOK with 3,046,422 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.11000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
