April 13, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2568 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2508 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2763 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS INC (NASDAQ:LVLT), ISHARES RUSSELL 2000 (NYSE:IWM), ISHARES MSCI EMERGING MKT IN (NYSE:EEM), ISHARES MSCI EAFE INDEX FUND (NYSE:EFA), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), KEYCORP (NYSE:KEY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     LVLT $0.020 1.20% 23,212,433 45.40% 27,503,333 53.79% -4,290,900 Abnormal
     IWM $0.060 0.07% 33,632,812 45.94% 38,023,306 51.94% -4,390,494 Abnormal
     EEM $0.340 0.70% 25,024,056 47.56% 28,715,180 54.58% -3,691,124 Abnormal
     EFA $0.110 0.18% 6,218,343 42.45% 9,788,596 66.83% -3,570,253 Abnormal
     INTC $0.010 0.05% 17,943,746 46.94% 20,203,281 52.85% -2,259,535 Abnormal
     KEY $0.070 0.85% 8,305,562 39.91% 10,093,539 48.50% -1,787,977 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows LVLT with 4,290,900 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
