Market Maker Surveillance Report. XRT, ACTC, INTC, THC, BAC, QQQQ, Highest Net Sell Volume and Negative Price Friction For Mon
December 13, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2595 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2391 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3075 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SPDR S&P RETAIL ETF (NYSE:XRT), ADVANCED CELL TECHNOLOGY INC (OTCBB:ACTC), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), TENET HEALTHCARE CORP (NYSE:THC), BANK OF AMERICA CORP (NYSE:BAC), POWERSHARES QQQ NASDAQ 100 (NASDAQ:QQQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction XRT $-0.740 -1.54% 3,383,655 29.07% 10,427,237 89.59% -7,043,582 -95,184 ACTC $-0.025 -15.82% 14,433,151 36.32% 22,728,028 57.19% -8,294,877 -3,317,951 INTC $-0.410 -1.87% 34,606,653 43.89% 43,662,994 55.37% -9,056,341 -220,886 THC $-0.130 -1.95% 19,655,182 41.12% 25,019,593 52.35% -5,364,411 -412,647 BAC $-0.300 -2.34% 77,029,772 41.74% 91,773,786 49.73% -14,744,014 -491,467 QQQQ $-0.110 -0.21% 21,000,945 43.27% 26,098,992 53.78% -5,098,047 -463,459
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows QQQQ down $-0.11000 with a Friction Factor of -463,459 and a Net Volume of -5,098,047. That means that it takes 463,459 more shares of selling than buying to drop QQQQ by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
