Market Maker Surveillance Report. NENE, EONC, LCI, VECO, AEY, CSPI, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Dece
December 14, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2560 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2329 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2861 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTCBB:NENE), EON COMMUNICATIONS CORP (NASDAQ:EONC), LANNETT CO INC (AMEX:LCI), VEECO INSTRUMENTS INC (NASDAQ:VECO), ADDVANTAGE TECHNOLOGIES GRP (NASDAQ:AEY), CSP INC (NASDAQ:CSPI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction NENE $-0.565 -25.11% 2,419,617 42.19% 3,167,201 55.23% -747,584 -13,232 EONC $-0.680 -22.90% 101,258 45.94% 118,262 53.65% -17,004 -250 LCI $-0.940 -16.01% 1,191,201 43.27% 1,343,200 48.79% -151,999 -1,617 VECO $-7.620 -15.25% 4,661,935 49.08% 4,746,110 49.97% -84,175 -110 AEY $-0.600 -16.42% 75,730 41.94% 104,826 58.06% -29,096 -485 CSPI $-1.030 -21.19% 73,081 36.92% 118,552 59.89% -45,471 -441
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CSPI with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-1.03000 and a Friction Factor of -441 shares. That means that it only took 441 more shares of selling than buying to move CSPI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
