December 13, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2595 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2391 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3075 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. MOTOROLA INC (NYSE:MOT), POPULAR INC (NASDAQ:BPOP), GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), DELL INC (NASDAQ:DELL), EBAY INC (NASDAQ:EBAY), ISHARES RUSSELL 2000 (NYSE:IWM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     MOT $-0.080 -0.97% 18,997,632 47.46% 15,078,021 37.66% 3,919,611 Abnormal
     BPOP $-0.050 -1.60% 10,609,684 53.96% 9,043,965 46.00% 1,565,719 Abnormal
     GE $-0.070 -0.40% 33,097,598 49.43% 28,581,130 42.68% 4,516,468 Abnormal
     DELL $-0.410 -2.92% 16,761,538 52.78% 14,992,007 47.20% 1,769,531 Abnormal
     EBAY $-0.410 -1.33% 6,067,346 57.17% 4,505,089 42.45% 1,562,257 Abnormal
     IWM $-0.210 -0.26% 19,428,614 50.73% 17,837,067 46.58% 1,591,547 Abnormal

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IWM with 1,591,547 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.21000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
