Market Maker Surveillance Report. NYNY, ENMD, EXEL, GTN, IRE, SGTB, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, No
November 18, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2726 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3648 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1609 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. EMPIRE RESORTS INC (NASDAQ:NYNY), ENTREMED INC (NASDAQ:ENMD), EXELIXIS INC (NASDAQ:EXEL), GRAY TELEVISION INC (NYSE:GTN), BANK OF IRELAND-SPONS ADR (NYSE:IRE), SUGGESTION BOX INC (OTC:SGTB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction NYNY $0.31 25.830% 1,214,971 57.500% 898,128 42.500% 316,843 10,221 ENMD $1.19 25.370% 251,394 55.080% 198,158 43.420% 53,236 447 EXEL $1.35 28.620% 8,547,402 55.040% 6,963,083 44.840% 1,584,319 11,736 GTN $0.21 13.910% 325,625 50.080% 294,714 45.320% 30,911 1,472 IRE $0.72 33.330% 11,655,054 49.780% 9,885,483 42.220% 1,769,571 24,577 SGTB $0.18 18.920% 122,306 60.370% 48,691 24.030% 73,615 4,054
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SGTB with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.182 and a Friction Factor of 4,054 shares. That means that it only took 4,054 more shares of buying than selling to move SGTB higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
