November 19, 2010 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2732 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2993 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2076 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Friday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. FORD MOTOR CO (NYSE:F), INDUSTRIAL SELECT SECT SPDR (NYSE:XLI), EXXON MOBIL CORP (NYSE:XOM), PROCTER & GAMBLE CO/THE (NYSE:PG), QUALCOMM INC (NASDAQ:QCOM), SPDR S&P 500 ETF TRUST (NYSE:SPY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction F $0.15 0.930% 58,910,743 45.490% 51,594,532 39.840% 7,316,211 487,747 XLI $0.16 0.490% 7,095,587 63.390% 4,097,786 36.610% 2,997,801 187,363 XOM $0.23 0.330% 12,669,484 52.780% 7,689,599 32.030% 4,979,885 216,517 PG $0.04 0.070% 5,616,890 59.480% 2,736,971 28.980% 2,879,919 719,980 QCOM $0.24 0.500% 10,139,138 57.190% 7,471,247 42.140% 2,667,891 111,162 SPY $0.47 0.390% 78,432,748 53.850% 62,480,550 42.900% 15,952,198 339,408
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SPY with a Net Buy Volume of 15,952,198 shares and a Friction Factor of 339,408 shares. That means that it takes 339,408 more shares of buying than selling to move SPY higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Friday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
