Growth Projected at 7%, Household Investing in Stock Markets on Rise: CEA

  • News Delhi: The Economic Survey for 2023-24 has projected a prudent growth rate of 6.5-7 percent for the current financial year, contingent upon the progress of the monsoon, Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) V Anantha Nageswaran said on Monday.

The Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) of India, V Anantha Nageswaran, has projected a 7% growth for the Indian economy in the current fiscal year, attributing this optimistic outlook to robust domestic demand and increased household investments in the stock market. He highlighted that the number of demat accounts in India has surged to 151 million, indicating a significant rise in retail investor participation. Nageswaran also noted that despite global economic challenges, India's economic resilience is supported by strong macroeconomic fundamentals and a stable financial system. He emphasized the importance of continued reforms and policy measures to sustain this growth trajectory and enhance the overall economic environment.
