December 22, 2016 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5321 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2190 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3988 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Financial Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLF), Visa Inc. (NYSE:V), Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO), Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), Williams Companies Inc. (NYSE:WMB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLF $-0.060 -0.00% 10,957,331 31.24% 8,257,696 23.54% 2,699,635 Abnormal
  V $-0.240 -0.00% 4,619,078 34.45% 2,464,705 18.38% 2,154,373 Abnormal
  YHOO $-0.650 -0.02% 5,369,805 46.09% 2,413,343 20.72% 2,956,462 Abnormal
  AA $-0.690 -0.02% 2,504,795 43.94% 576,662 10.12% 1,928,133 Abnormal
  MSFT $-0.030 -0.00% 8,909,322 40.78% 5,976,879 27.35% 2,932,443 Abnormal
  WMB $-0.320 -0.01% 5,314,593 39.34% 2,260,538 16.73% 3,054,055 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLF with 2,699,635 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.06000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
