April 12, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3510 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4389 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1809 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Thursday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. X-RITE INC (NASDAQ:XRIT), PROCTER & GAMBLE CO/THE (NYSE:PG), CVS CAREMARK CORP (NYSE:CVS), ILLUMINA INC (NASDAQ:ILMN), ARENA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ARNA), (OTCBB:SEFE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XRIT $-0.020 -0.30% 172,045 6.63% 2,422,655 93.37% -2,250,610 -1,125,305
  PG $-0.350 -0.53% 2,067,658 26.55% 2,935,333 37.69% -867,675 -24,791
  CVS $-0.270 -0.62% 2,037,341 25.35% 2,920,661 36.34% -883,320 -32,716
  ILMN $-3.010 -5.73% 4,448,870 43.37% 5,426,806 52.90% -977,936 -3,249
  ARNA $-0.200 -6.67% 4,668,552 46.66% 5,309,483 53.07% -640,931 -32,047
  SEFE $-0.050 -3.94% 1,142,414 33.43% 2,221,586 65.01% -1,079,172 -215,834
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XRIT down $-0.02000 with a Friction Factor of -1,125,305 and a Net Volume of -2,250,610. That means that it takes 1,125,305 more shares of selling than buying to drop XRIT by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
