On Thursday there were 3510 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4389 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1809 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK), UNILEVER N V -NY SHARES (NYSE:UN), RITE AID CORP (NYSE:RAD), Companhia Energetica de Minas Gerais (NYSE:CIG), Telefon AB L M Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC), (:MRC). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction NOK $-0.040 -0.94% 31,907,216 37.96% 28,502,432 33.91% 3,404,784 Abnormal UN $-0.080 -0.25% 5,006,381 62.90% 956,010 12.01% 4,050,371 Abnormal RAD $-0.030 -1.56% 7,692,883 46.46% 5,505,218 33.25% 2,187,665 Abnormal CIG $-0.050 -0.20% 1,880,685 44.55% 968,928 22.95% 911,757 Abnormal ERIC $-0.010 -0.15% 2,969,032 60.64% 1,862,194 38.03% 1,106,838 Abnormal MRC $-0.080 -0.38% 2,865,969 29.91% 1,894,918 19.78% 971,051 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows NOK with 3,404,784 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
