Market Maker Surveillance Report. PWAV, SGOC, TOPS, NEWL, NFEC, NEI, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Apri
April 13, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3553 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1727 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4217 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. POWERWAVE TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:PWAV), SOLOMON GOLD CORP (NASDAQ:SGOC), TOP SHIPS INC (NASDAQ:TOPS), NEWLEAD HOLDINGS LTD (NASDAQ:NEWL), NF ENERGY SAVING CORP (OTCBB:NFEC), NETWORK ENGINES INC (NASDAQ:NEI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PWAV $-0.830 -38.60% 2,545,212 45.32% 3,071,241 54.68% -526,029 -6,338 SGOC $-1.030 -40.39% 302,780 38.84% 454,447 58.30% -151,667 -1,472 TOPS $-0.530 -18.21% 49,942 44.04% 61,809 54.50% -11,867 -224 NEWL $-1.020 -28.02% 103,639 33.98% 200,761 65.82% -97,122 -952 NFEC $-0.290 -17.47% 31,520 35.70% 54,860 62.14% -23,340 -805 NEI $-0.360 -25.17% 648,188 45.17% 786,716 54.83% -138,528 -3,848Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PWAV with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.83000 and a Friction Factor of -6,338 shares. That means that it only took 6,338 more shares of selling than buying to move PWAV lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
