January 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3816 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3256 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2641 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. RMR REAL ESTATE INCOME FUND (AMEX:RIF), Interdigital Inc (NASDAQ:IDCC), SHANDA GAMES LTD-SPONS ADR (NASDAQ:GAME), LIGHTWAVE LOGIC INC (OTCBB:LWLG), LATITUDE SOLUTIONS INC (OTC:LATI), (NYSE:KOLD). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     RIF $-15.490 -51.58% 56,646 34.77% 61,085 37.50% -4,439 -3
     IDCC $-8.060 -17.53% 332,902 42.85% 431,007 55.48% -98,105 -122
     GAME $-0.860 -18.18% 329,500 43.60% 425,710 56.33% -96,210 -1,119
     LWLG $-0.390 -14.50% 152,907 18.11% 243,325 28.82% -90,418 -2,318
     LATI $-0.370 -25.00% 49,980 27.62% 50,200 27.74% -220 -6
     KOLD $-19.620 -18.21% 97,357 42.97% 116,957 51.63% -19,600 -10
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows RIF with a dollar loss Monday of $-15.49000 and a Friction Factor of -3 shares. That means that it only took 3 more shares of selling than buying to move RIF lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
