Market Maker Surveillance Report. KO, MTG, XLP, XRX, GDX, QVCA, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Monday, February 27th 2017
February 27, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5428 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3610 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2562 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO), MGIC Investment Corporation (NYSE:MTG), Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (NYSE:XLP), Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX), Liberty Interactive Corporation (NASDAQ:QVCA). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction KO $-0.160 -0.00% 5,766,296 42.25% 3,213,313 23.54% 2,552,983 Abnormal MTG $-0.010 -0.00% 2,774,778 51.28% 624,532 11.54% 2,150,246 Abnormal XLP $-0.280 -0.01% 7,261,779 46.00% 2,578,144 16.33% 4,683,635 Abnormal XRX $-0.080 -0.01% 5,493,222 42.54% 3,062,422 23.71% 2,430,800 Abnormal GDX $-1.330 -0.06% 50,822,864 37.18% 31,834,092 23.29% 18,988,772 Abnormal QVCA $-0.060 -0.00% 3,228,191 61.31% 891,804 16.94% 2,336,387 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows KO with 2,552,983 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.16000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
