August 10, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4111 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2750 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2791 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK), Chimera Investment Corp (NYSE:CIM), Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT), Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F), Banco Santander Brasil SA (NYSE:BSBR), Liberty Interactive Corp (NASDAQ:LINTA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NOK $-0.180 -6.14% 21,188,202 40.97% 19,892,913 38.47% 1,295,289 Abnormal
  CIM $-0.010 -0.42% 13,875,338 70.13% 1,977,782 10.00% 11,897,556 Abnormal
  MSFT $-0.080 -0.26% 15,332,804 55.28% 12,355,140 44.54% 2,977,664 Abnormal
  F $-0.010 -0.09% 7,315,007 37.43% 6,010,684 30.76% 1,304,323 Abnormal
  BSBR $-0.090 -1.15% 4,522,225 42.41% 2,841,902 26.65% 1,680,323 Abnormal
  LINTA $-1.480 -7.87% 5,502,047 59.07% 3,789,480 40.68% 1,712,567 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NOK with 1,295,289 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.18000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
