August 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3918 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2781 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2487 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Silicon Graphics International Corp (NASDAQ:SGI), Peregrine Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:PPHM), Universal Display Corp (NASDAQ:PANL), Mood Media Corp (NYSE:MM), Wizzard Software Corp (AMEX:WZE), Intralinks Holdings Inc (NYSE:IL). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SGI $1.860 27.27% 1,733,081 50.12% 1,712,844 49.53% 20,237 109 PPHM $0.510 26.84% 3,474,446 57.23% 2,584,458 42.57% 889,988 17,451 PANL $6.390 19.47% 2,255,671 50.32% 2,133,174 47.59% 122,497 192 MM $2.840 27.87% 1,120,910 37.78% 1,103,440 37.19% 17,470 62 WZE $0.990 28.61% 94,662 36.43% 92,613 35.64% 2,049 21 IL $0.880 20.61% 658,982 36.46% 646,632 35.77% 12,350 140Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SGI with a dollar gain Thursday of $1.86000 and a Friction Factor of 109 shares. That means that it only took 109 more shares of buying than selling to move SGI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
