August 15, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3956 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3226 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2095 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Wednesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), Groupon Inc (NASDAQ:GRPN), H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB (OTC:HNNMY), Anthera Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:ANTH), Powershares Qqq Trust Series 1 (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  C $-0.040 -0.14% 5,538,016 30.63% 6,903,434 38.18% -1,365,418 -341,355

  GRPN $-0.200 -3.63% 9,121,658 43.18% 11,974,979 56.69% -2,853,321 -142,666
  HNNMY $-0.030 -0.40% 48,166 3.96% 1,157,016 95.05% -1,108,850 -369,617
  ANTH $-0.030 -3.93% 286,563 8.74% 2,992,006 91.26% -2,705,443 -901,814
  QQQ $-0.020 -0.03% 9,204,509 36.91% 10,948,950 43.90% -1,744,441 -872,221
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows C down $-0.04000 with a Friction Factor of -341,355 and a Net Volume of -1,365,418. That means that it takes 341,355 more shares of selling than buying to drop C by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
