April 12, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2385 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1462 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4143 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Tuesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ENERGY SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLE), ISHARES MSCI EMERGING MKT IN (NYSE:EEM), BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CORP (NYSE:BSX), EXXON MOBIL CORP (NYSE:XOM), MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT), SPDR S&P RETAIL ETF (NYSE:XRT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     XLE $-2.510 -3.21% 15,609,948 41.15% 18,672,548 49.22% -3,062,600 -12,202
     EEM $-1.010 -2.04% 32,691,091 44.85% 42,034,358 57.67% -9,343,267 -92,508
     BSX $-0.120 -1.66% 6,386,798 37.15% 8,818,906 51.30% -2,432,108 -202,676
     XOM $-1.990 -2.34% 7,483,648 36.26% 11,054,060 53.56% -3,570,412 -17,942
     MSFT $-0.330 -1.27% 17,194,844 46.70% 21,636,602 58.77% -4,441,758 -134,599
     XRT $-0.290 -0.56% 6,712,388 39.57% 9,756,471 57.52% -3,044,083 -104,968
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLE down $-2.51000 with a Friction Factor of -12,202 and a Net Volume of -3,062,600. That means that it takes 12,202 more shares of selling than buying to drop XLE by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
