March 18, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2575 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3324 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1838 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. POWERSHARES QQQ NASDAQ 100 (NASDAQ:QQQQ), TECHNOLOGY SELECT SECT SPDR (NYSE:XLK), STEEL DYNAMICS INC (NASDAQ:STLD), ISIS PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ISIS), DIRECTV-CLASS A (NASDAQ:DTV), HERCULES OFFSHORE INC (NASDAQ:HERO). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .

Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     QQQQ $-0.050 -0.09% 51,562,882 55.61% 46,829,935 50.51% 4,732,947 Abnormal
     XLK $-0.010 -0.04% 11,298,909 63.89% 7,636,780 43.18% 3,662,129 Abnormal
     STLD $-0.090 -0.48% 5,980,923 81.55% 2,273,010 30.99% 3,707,913 Abnormal
     ISIS $-0.150 -1.71% 4,212,700 97.77% 1,059,691 24.59% 3,153,009 Abnormal
     DTV $-0.140 -0.31% 10,698,148 75.16% 3,936,957 27.66% 6,761,191 Abnormal
     HERO $-0.140 -2.48% 6,508,904 79.73% 3,095,526 37.92% 3,413,378 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows QQQQ with 4,732,947 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
