March 17, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2796 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3117 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1886 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. WAL-MART STORES INC (NYSE:WMT), COMVERSE TECHNOLOGY INC (OTC:CMVT), CEMEX SAB-SPONS ADR PART CER (NYSE:CX), YAHOO! INC (NASDAQ:YHOO), PROSHARES ULTRASHORT YEN (NYSE:YCS), GLOBAL HEALTH VENTURES INC (OTCBB:GHLV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     WMT $-0.010 -0.02% 5,128,272 48.19% 4,430,939 41.64% 697,333 Abnormal
     CMVT $-0.020 -0.28% 814,773 84.31% 123,915 12.82% 690,858 Abnormal
     CX $-0.060 -0.71% 5,010,308 49.45% 4,259,502 42.04% 750,806 Abnormal
     YHOO $-0.050 -0.30% 18,644,739 53.64% 15,866,379 45.64% 2,778,360 Abnormal
     YCS $-0.310 -2.06% 6,945,511 59.81% 4,667,393 40.19% 2,278,118 Abnormal
     GHLV $-0.010 -19.84% 2,941,943 59.66% 1,903,317 38.60% 1,038,626 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows WMT with 697,333 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
