March 17, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2796 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3117 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1886 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CHINA AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:CAAS), SYNTHESIS ENERGY SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:SYMX), YRC WORLDWIDE INC (NASDAQ:YRCW), EMAGIN CORPORATION (AMEX:EMAN), CHINA INTEGRATED ENERGY INC (NASDAQ:CBEH), SUBAYE INC (NASDAQ:SBAY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CAAS $-1.420 -13.88% 436,367 44.10% 516,819 52.23% -80,452 -567
     SYMX $-0.230 -11.86% 166,527 40.31% 246,619 59.69% -80,092 -3,482
     YRCW $-0.190 -13.03% 2,675,275 48.69% 2,818,753 51.31% -143,478 -7,551
     EMAN $-0.880 -10.78% 312,225 42.05% 425,600 57.33% -113,375 -1,288
     CBEH $-1.250 -25.00% 2,677,709 44.89% 3,239,055 54.30% -561,346 -4,491
     SBAY $-0.670 -16.67% 98,952 37.46% 165,223 62.54% -66,271 -989
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CAAS with a dollar loss Thursday of $-1.42000 and a Friction Factor of -567 shares. That means that it only took 567 more shares of selling than buying to move CAAS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
