March 18, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2575 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3324 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1838 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. EVERGREEN SOLAR INC (NASDAQ:ESLR), PURE BIOSCIENCE (NASDAQ:PURE), NIKE INC -CL B (NYSE:NKE), INTERPHASE CORP (NASDAQ:INPH), NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTC:NENE), GULF RESOURCES INC (NASDAQ:GFRE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ESLR $-0.210 -14.42% 1,288,850 38.40% 2,064,639 61.52% -775,789 -36,942
     PURE $-0.170 -10.00% 186,488 35.75% 335,201 64.25% -148,713 -8,748
     NKE $-7.820 -9.16% 8,019,577 40.75% 9,559,729 48.58% -1,540,152 -1,970
     INPH $-0.600 -8.64% 154,029 38.37% 246,155 61.32% -92,126 -1,535
     NENE $-0.130 -9.63% 77,919 24.81% 169,698 54.02% -91,779 -7,060
     GFRE $-0.670 -8.72% 407,366 43.32% 531,377 56.50% -124,011 -1,851
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ESLR with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.21000 and a Friction Factor of -36,942 shares. That means that it only took 36,942 more shares of selling than buying to move ESLR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
