January 12, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2508 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3279 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2028 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Wednesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. VANTAGE DRILLING CO (AMEX:VTG), PROSHARES QQQ ULTRASHORT (NYSE:QID), CONEXANT SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:CNXT), AMARIN CORPORATION PLC -ADR (NASDAQ:AMRN), CVS CAREMARK CORP (NYSE:CVS), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     VTG $-0.060 -2.96% 1,362,752 31.80% 2,408,199 56.19% -1,045,447 -174,241
     QID $-0.140 -1.28% 4,111,256 41.86% 5,711,145 58.14% -1,599,889 -114,278
     CNXT $-0.030 -1.40% 674,164 23.38% 2,209,842 76.62% -1,535,678 -511,893
     AMRN $-0.170 -1.82% 1,094,521 29.46% 2,618,753 70.49% -1,524,232 -89,661
     CVS $-0.430 -1.22% 4,132,520 40.62% 5,172,934 50.85% -1,040,414 -24,196
     SIRI $-0.020 -1.27% 14,014,470 37.63% 23,231,233 62.37% -9,216,763 -4,608,382

Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SIRI down $-0.02000 with a Friction Factor of -4,608,382 and a Net Volume of -9,216,763. That means that it takes 4,608,382 more shares of selling than buying to drop SIRI by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
