Market Maker Surveillance Report. INFI, WPRT, STRP, NVIV, WKHS, IOTS, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Monday, Ap
April 17, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5121 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4177 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2159 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:INFI), Westport Innovations Inc. (NASDAQ:WPRT), Straight Path Communications Inc. (NYSE:STRP), InVivo Therapeutics Holdings Corp (NASDAQ:NVIV), Workhorse Group Inc. (NASDAQ:WKHS), Adesto Technologies (NASDAQ:IOTS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction INFI $0.370 0.20% 1,468,004 43.36% 1,316,152 38.87% 151,852 4,104 WPRT $0.230 0.22% 1,511,117 40.00% 1,441,551 38.16% 69,566 3,025 STRP $20.360 0.22% 630,483 36.93% 505,599 29.62% 124,884 61 NVIV $0.600 0.17% 191,944 40.91% 171,854 36.62% 20,090 335 WKHS $0.340 0.18% 131,949 41.77% 94,025 29.76% 37,924 1,115 IOTS $0.800 0.18% 132,754 39.71% 101,527 30.37% 31,227 390Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows INFI with a dollar gain Monday of $0.37000 and a Friction Factor of 4,104 shares. That means that it only took 4,104 more shares of buying than selling to move INFI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
