Market Maker Surveillance Report. CHK, JCP, XRX, GDX, VXX, GDXJ, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Monday, April 17th 2017
April 17, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5121 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4177 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2159 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK), J.C. Penney Company Inc. (NYSE:JCP), Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX), Barclays Bank iPath Exch Traded Nts 2009-30.1.19 iPath S&P 500 VIX Short Term Futures Ser A (NYSE:VXX), MARKET VECTORS ETF TRJR GOLD MINES (NYSE:GDXJ). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CHK $-0.200 -0.03% 17,437,710 34.99% 16,260,641 32.63% 1,177,069 Abnormal JCP $-0.270 -0.05% 7,470,432 40.87% 6,187,675 33.85% 1,282,757 Abnormal XRX $-0.010 -0.00% 3,192,360 40.81% 2,000,810 25.58% 1,191,550 Abnormal GDX $-0.060 -0.00% 18,474,878 39.01% 13,067,814 27.59% 5,407,064 Abnormal VXX $-0.870 -0.05% 17,389,946 33.19% 16,065,053 30.66% 1,324,893 Abnormal GDXJ $-0.560 -0.02% 13,551,820 42.14% 7,535,564 23.43% 6,016,256 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CHK with 1,177,069 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.20000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
