March 23, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5452 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3273 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2518 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE:SPY), The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO), Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ:QUIK), SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (NYSE:XBI), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SPY $-0.480 -0.00% 24,027,650 24.98% 21,019,826 21.86% 3,007,824 Abnormal
  KO $-0.210 -0.01% 4,329,578 35.61% 2,827,705 23.25% 1,501,873 Abnormal
  VZ $-0.070 -0.00% 3,689,316 34.24% 2,440,717 22.65% 1,248,599 Abnormal
  QUIK $-0.130 -0.07% 4,493,035 45.42% 3,284,807 33.21% 1,208,228 Abnormal
  XBI $-0.120 -0.00% 2,458,835 40.43% 1,114,127 18.32% 1,344,708 Abnormal
  GDX $-0.260 -0.01% 29,364,917 39.32% 21,824,562 29.22% 7,540,355 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SPY with 3,007,824 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.48000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
