March 20, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 5546 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2577 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3312 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ:DRYS), SPI Energy Co. Ltd. (NASDAQ:SPI), Tuesday Morning Corp. (NASDAQ:TUES), TOP Ships Inc. (NASDAQ:TOPS), Cerulean Pharma (NASDAQ:CERU), Medgenics Inc. (NASDAQ:GNMX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DRYS $-0.310 -0.18% 22,369,788 39.20% 22,417,326 39.28% -47,538 -1,533
  SPI $-0.220 -0.15% 31,750 26.34% 52,207 43.31% -20,457 -930
  TUES $-0.750 -0.19% 104,441 36.53% 115,660 40.46% -11,219 -150
  TOPS $-0.530 -0.27% 1,729,781 34.45% 2,448,598 48.77% -718,817 -13,563
  CERU $-2.070 -0.62% 9,878,809 40.35% 10,570,628 43.18% -691,819 -3,342
  GNMX $-3.230 -0.59% 3,720,037 33.03% 4,647,595 41.27% -927,558 -2,872
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DRYS with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.31000 and a Friction Factor of -1,533 shares. That means that it only took 1,533 more shares of selling than buying to move DRYS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
