February 17, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 5684 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3067 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2760 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (NYSE:EEM), Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC), Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE:WFC), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:GDX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  EEM $-0.160 -0.00% 27,810,337 38.15% 12,246,337 16.80% 15,564,000 Abnormal
  BAC $-0.080 -0.00% 33,934,976 39.66% 27,859,947 32.56% 6,075,029 Abnormal
  XOM $-0.570 -0.01% 6,311,570 40.38% 2,865,061 18.33% 3,446,509 Abnormal
  WFC $-0.090 -0.00% 7,471,768 47.35% 3,504,720 22.21% 3,967,048 Abnormal
  MSFT $-0.020 0.00% 9,403,024 44.28% 4,190,781 19.73% 5,212,243 Abnormal
  GDX $-0.460 -0.02% 22,566,977 45.31% 14,901,471 29.92% 7,665,506 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EEM with 15,564,000 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.16000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
