February 2, 2017 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 5623 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3124 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2707 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Corium International (NASDAQ:CORI), CSG Systems International Inc. (NASDAQ:CSGS), Stemline Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:STML), Galena Biopharma Inc. (NASDAQ:GALE), Resolute Forest Products Inc. (NYSE:RFP), Praetorian Property Inc. (PINK:PRRE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CORI $-0.780 -0.21% 157,163 9.10% 1,357,829 78.66% -1,200,666 -15,393 CSGS $-9.040 -0.19% 565,249 27.40% 616,200 29.86% -50,951 -56 STML $-4.200 -0.43% 1,035,137 28.19% 1,038,862 28.29% -3,725 -9 GALE $-0.190 -0.15% 577,909 36.79% 723,027 46.02% -145,118 -7,638 RFP $-1.000 -0.18% 387,587 31.09% 404,251 32.43% -16,664 -167 PRRE $-0.200 -0.14% 25,793 27.22% 67,771 71.51% -41,978 -2,099Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CORI with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.78000 and a Friction Factor of -15,393 shares. That means that it only took 15,393 more shares of selling than buying to move CORI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
